Chief Scientist in Artificial Intelligence.
IEEE Fellow; CAAI Fellow; IEAS Academician
Dr. Qi Tian is a great leader in both academia and industry. In academia, Dr. Tian is an internationally-recognized and highly-cited researcher in the field of multimedia information retrieval and computer vision. His major technical contributions are large-scale image retrieval, person re-identification and neural architecture search. In industry, Dr. Tian currently the Chief Scientist in AI at Huawei Cloud, has been applying the AI algorithms to real-world scenarios. He realized that AI will never be successful if engineers keep customizing an algorithm for each scenario that can incur heavy human labor. To overcome the difficulty, he led the team to construct a series of Pangu large-scale pre-trained models.
